Since its inception in 1991, the Eco Park has always been rooted in a commitment to outdoor education and helping people to experience nature. Located on beautiful Manitoulin Island, Manitoulin Eco Park is a quiet oasis away from the buzz of the city.
We offer private wilderness campsites, tipi-tenting, bunkies, and hammock camping.
We have on-site activities to keep the kids busy, a summertime calendar of events, and star-filled night skies like you have never seen before!
As an Eco Park, 99% of our campsites are off the grid (no hydro-electric).
We do offer free WIFI, and a charging station near the office (at the front of the Eco Park).
Our focus for the Eco Park is on supporting natural and cultural systems to promote adaptive, regenerative, and healthy responses to change. We are mentoring conscientious and deliberate human activities, without disturbing long term ecological regeneration. Our commitments are:
- To start from a place of deep connection and responsibility to future well-being
- To walk in balance and collaboration, in right relationship with all our relations
- To find good ways to work with all, welcoming, appreciating, and honouring differences
- To mentor positive change with diligence, patience, humour, and discernment
- To cultivate peace-making skills, from treaty relationships with Indigenous expertise (Tree of Peace Society, First Nations Technical Institute, Four Worlds International Institute)
We acknowledge that many prior to us tended this land and water, including those we know to be the people of the Three Fires Confederacy (the Potawatomi, Odawa & Ojibwe peoples).
Our NEW user-friendly website is being designed for 2022
Manitoulin Eco Park is also a Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (R.A.S.C.) designated Dark Sky Preserve and a top destination for astronomers and star-gazers from Canada and around the world.
Manitoulin Eco Park (formerly Gordon’s Park) is proud to be a recipient of the Attractions Canada Award. We are also named the 2015 Campground of the Year (small category) by Camping in Ontario.
No events are scheduled for January 2022.
